Best Electric Razor Under £50 - Detailed Reviews

Thanks for taking your time to read our reviews on the best electric razors under £50, that are currently available on the UK marketplace. If you have been looking around for a good quality electric razor, then you may already know that the price points for these vary a lot.

At the lower end, you can pick one up for around £20, and at the higher end you can spend anything up to £400. That is such a wide variation in prices. Sometimes it is hard to explain, but it comes down to the brand that you prefer, and how many features you want your electric razor to have. The more features will always mean a higher price tag.

Electric shavers used to be pretty simple, but that is just no longer the case. These days they can be cordless, can be used for either wet/dry shaving, be waterproof so as they can be used in the shower, have various spinning and floating heads and other smaller features.

When we were doing our research (and we do a lot of that), we discovered that there are a lot of these available on the marketplace for less than £50. What did surprise us though, is that many of them are quite frankly rubbish. They are badly made, the instructions are terrible, they break easily and there is virtually no customer support. They also get really dreadful buyer reviews and feedback.

The good news is that there are also a lot of good quality electric shavers in that under £50 price range.

In this article we have produced a top 10 list. We did this using actual buyer satisfaction ratings and reviews. You will not find any shaver on that list with a buyer rating of less than 80%, or at least 4 out of 5 stars. That means they are all good to excellent quality.

We have then done detailed reviews on those top 10 shavers, as we believe those are the best with buyer rating scores in the high 80-90% buyer satisfaction range.

This is a long article, so if you are in a hurry, then the best electric shaver under £50 available on the UK market right now is the Philips AquaTouch Wet & Dry Men's Electric Shaver, available at Amazon UK and other stores.

Just below we have made a table of contents. If you see a particular razor that you want to read about, then simply click on that link, and you can jump straight to that section.

All our product recommendations are based on our independent research which we conduct online by reading the many reviews we find at online websites. This review contains affiliate links and we may receive a commission for purchases made.

Foil vs Rotary Electric Shavers

Before looking at our top 10 list, we think it is important that you are armed with the following important information. There are two main types of electric shaver, which are the foil shaver and the rotary shaver. They offer two different types of shaving experience.

We have explained the pros and cons of each type in the table below.

Foil Electric Shavers

PROS

  • Great for a smooth close to the skin shave
  • Great for finer facial hair
  • Very good choice if you have to shave every day
  • Very good choice for precision shaving or where you want neat line around the sideburns

CONS

  • Not good for tougher skin or thick and coarse hair
  • Not good for cutting longer hair, or several day's growth
  • Not good if facial hair grows in different directions

Rotary Electric Shavers

PROS

  • Very good for a coarser beard
  • Great for older and tougher skin types
  • Ideal if you shave every other day or every few days
  • A very good choice if your facial hair grows in a lot of different directions

CONS

  • Not good for every day shaving
  • Not good for finer hair
  • Not ideal if you prefer to shave in straight lines

So depending on what you want to use your electric shaver for, then the above information is worth considering. Essentially if you have tough, coarse or thick hair then go for a rotary shaver. If you have fine hair, sensitive skin or want to use an electric shaver to shave every day, then go for a foil shaver.

Below we have done reviews of each of the electric shavers on our list, starting with the highest rated first.

1. Surker Electric Shaver Foil Shaver Men's Razor Review

88%
Buyer Satisfaction
  • This is an affordable razor that as you can see gets great buyer reviews
  • It is suitable for dry shaving and for wet shaving
  • It is up to IPX6 standard, which means it is waterproof, and that means you can use this in the shower
  • The LED screen shows the battery capacity and shows icon to remind you to clean the razor
  • A 1.5 hour charge will give you 90 minutes of cordless shaving
  • It also has USB plug charging which is perfect when travelling

PROS

  • 75% of all online buyers gave this electric shaver a full 5 star or 100% satisfaction review
  • Buyers say this razor charges very quickly
  • Buyers also liked the clear helpful display
  • Buyers thought it was great value for money

CONS

  • 7% of all buyers gave this trimmer a bad review
  • Some buyers said it didn't give a close enough shave
  • Some buyers said that the battery life is poor

This is not a well known brand in the UK. We did search for this brand online but we couldn't find any information. There was no website that we could find. Now that may not be an issue for some people as this is a fairly inexpensive razor.

Our only concern is getting parts. In terms of warranty and guarantees those will be covered by the seller or retailer.

2. Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s Electric Shaver Review

84%
Buyer Satisfaction
  • There are thousands of online buyer reviews for this Braun model
  • This shaver uses 3 independently floating shaving elements which adapt to the contours of your face
  • It uses a very small micro comb designed to capture more hair in each stroke - speeds up shaving
  • You get 45 minutes of shaving for a 1 hour charge
  • There is also a 5 minute quick charge which is enough for one shave
  • Also has a pop up precision trimmer, ideal for shaping moustaches and sideburns

CONS

  • 8% of buyers gave this shaver a bad review
  • Some buyers said that the battery life was just not good enough
  • Some buyers say the safety features stop you from getting a close shave

When it comes to foil razors, then Braun do tend to dominate the market. This is a very good shaver that has been around for a very long time. The single thing we don't like about this, is that you can't plug it in and use it. You can plug it in, wait 5 minutes for a charge, and then do a quick shave, so not all bad news.

3. Panasonic ES-SL41 3-Blade Electric Shaver Review

82%
Buyer Satisfaction
  • This shaver remains a very firm favourite with many UK buyers and it is from the Panasonic brand
  • This one is well known for its distinct llok which is known as the Milano Italian design
  • It makes use of a curved foil designed for the younger generation who don#t like the irritation from disposable razors
  • It has a 3-blade cutting system
  • It can be used either wet or dry

  • 57% of all online buyers gave this electric shaver a full 5 star or 100% satisfaction review
  • Buyers liked that this was a small shaver that sat really nicely in your hand
  • Most buyers thought at the price point it was very good value for money
  • Buyers overall thought the battery life was very good

CONS

  • 8% of buyers gave this shaver a bad review
  • Some buyers said that it was not that good in the shower
  • A few buyers said that the battery was not that good at holding the charge

This is well priced and we think it is a good shaver for the money. It is pretty basic in style with the only real added feature being the pop up trimmer. Panasonic do sell a lot of this small shaver though and some buyers simply prefer this brand.

4. Remington PF7500 Comfort Pro Foil Electric Shaver Review

80%

  • There is a charge/low indicator
  • Comes with a UK 2 Pin Plug
  • It has flexing foils and pivot head that allows you to get all the contours of the face covered
  • It can be washed out under a tap
  • Also has a pop up intercept trimmer

PROS

  • 58% of all online buyers gave this electric shaver a full 5 star or 100% satisfaction review
  • Most buyers thought this shaver held its charge really well
  • Buyers said a full charge gave them about 7 full shaves on average

CONS

  • 12% of all buyers have given this shaver a bad review
  • Those buyers say this does not shave closely enough when compared to other shavers they have used
  • A few buyers said the head started to come loose

Prices seem to vary on this shaver quite a lot. We would highly recommend waiting for this to go on an offer before buying. Some UK buyers like using Remington, and the good news is that  there are frequent offers on this product.

If you can get it for under £35, we think that is a pretty good deal.
