Remington MB320C Review
This is our review of the Remington MB320C Barbar beard trimmer which remains the most popular buy in the UK. Loyal and regular customers just seem to love this brand when it comes to buying a new beard trimmer. In fact when I was writing this review and I looked on the various review pages, I was stunned to see that over at Amazon, there were over 1200 reviews by actual buyers who rated this product a pretty amazing 4.4 out of 5 stars. By any stretch of the imagination, that is an impressive rating given the high number of comments and reviews.
Remington Trimmer Range
Remington are a really popular brand and they form part of a company known as Spectrum Brands Inc Their main company is based in the USA but they distribute a whole range of products worldwide. They also own for example Black & Decker and Rayovac to name just a couple. They do a large number of different shaving products and that includes a small range of beard trimmers. I have listed their most popular models below:
Their MB4555 product does not get the best reviews in the world so we would recommend avoiding that particular model. We selected the MB320C as it consistently gets good solid reviews and is the one chosen for the best performance. It also just happens to have the best price of all their trimmers in the range.
Remington Groom Professional MB320C Review
Let’s have a look at this in more detail and see if at just under £22 this one is good value for money. The good news right away is that it does come with a 2-year warranty, so that is an improvement on many, who only offer a 1-year warranty. Inside the box you will get the trimmer, an adaptor/charger, the user guide and a cleaning brush. Please note that this is a UK adaptor so if you want to use this in Europe you will need to get a converter. (There is a link to the user manual at the bottom of this post)
Ceramic Coated Blades
Remington advertise that the MB320C is great for skin care and mainly because of the quality of these blades. The blades are classed as self-sharpening so they should consistently deliver a good performance and last longer. These blades have also been infused with “Silica” to make them tougher and longer lasting.
All of the brands will offer a number of different settings and this one has 9. Starting at 1 for a stubble look and ending up at number 9 for the longer beards of 18 mm depth (0.71″) It does this by using a zoom wheel and as you turn the wheel will click into place on each setting.
I have attached a video below which shows you what you get inside the box when it arrives.
Clearly we got one of these and checked it out as well. It does arrive with some charge, but you should give it a full charge for 16 hours before using it for the first time. A full charge will give you around 30-40 minutes of cordless use.
It feels nice and solid in your hand but not that heavy that it is annoying. It has been designed ergonomically so it fits in the hand really well. The adjustments are pretty easy and the lengths that you can get are more than enough. The small pop up trimmer is good and works well. Like the guy in the video we thought it would not have been a bad idea to have included a stand.
Overall for under £25 this is good vale for money and it feels really solid. As long as you do some ongoing maintenance with it, we feel it will last a long time. You also have the assurance of a 2-year warranty which is good. We noticed that it said a 3-year warranty at their main site, but when it comes out of the box it very clearly states 2 years.
Our advice would be to always start on the higher settings and work your way down until you find the right length for you. Although all of these trimmers have set sizes, we just find it easier to find the right length that looks good for you. The easiest way to ensure that happens is to start at the longest setting, and then try each one until you get it just the way you like it.
- Solid, well made and feels good in the hand
- Zoom wheel works really well
- Warning charge lamp when battery is low
- Holds its charge really well
- The comb guard is really useful
- A good basic trimmer without the fancy features
- Good value for money
- It does not come with a stand
- The pop-up is flimsy but we found that with many of these trimmers
Now as you can see there is more good about the MB320C than there is bad about it. Our opinion would be that if you are looking for a trimmer to help keep your beard in shape, then this will certainly do that. It is a nice solid product that does exactly what it is supposed to do.
Remington MB320C Beard Trimmer PricePrice we believe is always an important consideration. This Remington MB320C is cheap when compared to the other models in the Remington range. It is however always better to compare it to other similar trimmers offered by other brands. As you know prices change on a daily basis so it is always a good idea to look around when making a buying decision. We did a spot check and found:
At the manufacturer’s own website we found this one priced at £26.99 with an average rating of 4.7 out of 5
When we checked on Amazon we found it listed at £21.65 which is 13% cheaper and rated at 4.4 out of 5
So as you can see it does pay to shop around. If you don’t have a lot of time to do that then our research would tell us that it is usually hard to beat the prices at Amazon.
In the video below we can see a barber offering some great tips on how to use a beard trimmer.
Best Beard Trimmer
It should be no great surprise that this is number one on our list. You can click here to read that. It was one of the first guides that we wrote due to the high popularity of these male grooming products. You will also find some great beard grooming tips here.
You will also find a table at the best trimmer page where we have compared the top 5 and also done a full price comparison. This one has always been a consistent performer and has been on the market for over 5 years, so it certainly has stood the test of time.
