Philips Aquatouch Plus AT 890/20 Review

We have checked the many reviews and ratings for the Philips AT890/20 AquaTouch Plus Wet and Dry Electric Shaver. Here you can read a detailed summary of this highly rated electric razor. First off, and almost right out of the box, this product looks really striking as you can see from the image below. It has a striking blue, set against black and silver coloured trims are used to enhance this great look. It is a pretty obvious thing to say that the main attraction of this for many users is of course the fact that this one can be used either for a dry shave or a wet shave.

It looks like a superb product just from the picture. However as we all know it is not just about the look. It is not a cheap razor and if you can find it for under £80, then you have got it at a very good price. When it was initially brought to the market it was almost double the price, but like many shaving products they do reduce in price over time. Philips do a number of great electric razors like the Sensitouch AT890, but this Aquatouch model is as good as any.

Philips Aquatouch AT890 Review By Amazon Buyers

It is always a good idea to check out Amazon reviews as these have been left by real life buyers, who have actually paid out the money, and then taken the time to leave a review. Philips, as you may already know, have been making shavers for a very long time and have invested a lot of money in R&D. They do get a lot of things right as a result of this.

The good news for you if you are considering buying this one is that there are over 550 reviews there so this product has clearly sold in its thousands. As an overall rating it has attracted 4.3 out of a possible 5 stars and that is a very good rating. It is the equivalent of getting 86% if scored out of 100, so you know it is right up there.

I have shown below a short video review left by an actual buyer.

Main Features of the Aqua Touch from Philips

aquatouch wet and dryThis product is mainly about the fact that you can actually use an electric shaver for a wet shave. The reality is that men, and especially younger men, do not know that this is the case. Just a note of warning on this statement though and that is not all electric ones can be used, but many can. You just need to check the manufacturer’s instructions and advertising.

If you have read any of the article here on the Emporium, then you will know that we constantly stress the benefits of wet shaving. It is just a million times better for your skin. We also know that time is precious for people and they do not always have time to do a full wet shave with shaving cream and a safety razor. However this Aqua Touch allows you the best of both worlds. You can still lather up for a wet shave but actually use this one to do the shaving.

That is because this product is fully waterproof. For many men a big issue is that when shaving with a safety razor, they can still get nicks and cuts. In the morning they just don’t have time for that. Using this product there is just no danger of that happening. So no need to worry about leaving the house, with bits of tissue trying to stop bleeding, or blood spots on your shirt.

Use the AT890/20 In the Shower

AT890-shaving-pouchThere is one main benefit of shaving in the shower. The heat and the steam generated quickly opens the pores in your skin. When that happens you by default get a much closer shave. There are of course the added benefits of being able to shower and shave at the same time, and when you step out, you are pretty much good to go.

It even comes with a shower hanger pouch, which can then double up as a case to hold your razor when travelling. This shaver is sealed and can also be used with a good shaving gel. Now again at the Emporium we would ask you to go one step further and use a good quality shaving cream, rather than a cheap gel.

Your face deserves that and the difference in your shaving experience will be quite different. Just try it and see, and we are certain you will never go back to those horrible gels or foams ever again.

To clean this razor after a wet shave you simply need to rinse it under a tap and leave to dry. Later when the shaver is dry you can then use the supplied cleaning brush to take care of any hairs or stubble still left in the heads and the cutting blades.

Word of Warning: Do not let your female partner, wife or daughters try this out or you will never see it again.

Our Opinion

Is it worth the money? The buyers seem to think that it is. There are a few different models available and they include the AT750, AT 896, AT 892 and the AT891 but from all of the reviews that we have read, this particular model is the best of the bunch. Personally we think it is still a little over priced, but if you can afford it, then go for it as it does get consistently good reviews.

It charges quickly, and as it is cordless you can use it just anywhere that you like. So it is ideal to have as your main shaver in the home and also as one to take away with you on holidays. We do really like the feel of this in your hand and that is down to a good design.

Does it give you a good shave? As far as electric shavers go then this one is really good. Use it with shaving cream though for the very best shave. As a dry shaver it also does a good job, but you will need to go over each area of your face a few times, especially where the skin is flat, such as on the cheeks.

Overall though a good quality product that comes with a nice solid 2-year guarantee. We have no hesitation in recommending it because it is a top notch product and our only complain is the RRP. Keep an eye out for sales an bargains and if you can find it in and around the £60 mark, then buy it at that price.

Enda
