Our UK Review of the Panasonic ES-SL41 3-Blade Electric Shaver

The Panasonic ES-SL41 is a popular budget choice 3-blade electric shaver. This shaver has sold really well and consistently since it was launched back in 2013. At that time it won the award for the best shave as picked by Men's Grooming Awards.

Buyers rate this shaver highly at 4.2 out of 5 stars. It is both a wet and dry shaver and it is a very stylish choice from the popular Panasonic brand. It uses three blades which are located under a curved high quality foil. Foil shavers are of course best suited for men with sensitive skin, as they are not as harsh as the standard rotary head.

This is however an older shaver, and there have been many newer models released since 2013. If you prefer to view those, then check out our top 10 list of shavers by clicking here. For now though, we shall do a full review of this Panasonic ES-SL41 3-Blade Electric Shaver.

It is of course very important when considering any electric shaver purchase, to read as many reviews as you can. After all, that is why you are reading this one. We also think it is important not just to read our review, but to get some general feedback, from all buyers.

This one has a very high RRP of around £90. However that was back when it was first released. You should now be able to pick this one up for under £40. Despite the lower price we believe it is worthwhile taking some time to make sure it is exactly the right one for you.

Below we have summarised what the hundreds of available reviews and what buyers have been saying about this Panasonic foil shaver. To keep this simple, we have rated by percentage, how many stars actual buyers have awarded this shaver. We have shown those in the chart below. At the time of doing this there were over 600 buyer reviews to base these figures on.

Panasonic ES-SL41 Pros and Cons

Panasonic ES-SL41 3-Blade Award Winner

Like any shaver there are usually good and bad points. We here at the Shaving Emporium prefer to advise our readers of both sides of the argument, before making any conclusions.

This is a basic shaver. There is nothing particularly fancy about this one, other than the unique 3 blade system, and the higher than usual quality foil.

We try and apply a common sense approach to reading reviews. Some of them are clearly left by some strange people, but we have always found that if you look carefully enough, you get some really useful information. It is that which we have summarised below.

As I pointed out already, there are not a lot of poor reviews, but we have included both the good and the bad points, according to real life buyers.

PROS

  • Good all round shaver at an affordable price.
  • Gives a reasonably close shave
  • Feels nice and light in the hand and super easy to use
  • Good for a quick shave

CONS

  • Replacement foils are available but expensive at around £20
  • Takes far too long to charge up
  • Struggles a bit with the longer facial hairs

In summary the poor reviews said that this shaver did not give a close enough shave. Those that gave it a high rating said that the shave was close enough, without being perfect. Mainly this will come down to the thickness of the hair that you have on your face. Those with tougher hair, will need to buy a more powerful shaver.

Our Recommendation on the Panasonic ES-SL41

Panasonic ES-SL41 3 blade system

This one is well rated at 4.2 out of 5 stars. The reviews have also been very consistent over the years since it was released.

If this is not the one for you can check out our electric shaver top rated list by clicking here. You can also check out our top 5 list of Panasonic branded electric shavers, by clicking here.

The 3 blade system along with a higher quality of foil makes this a good shaver. It can be used as a quick dry shave in the morning, however, it can also be used to wet shave if you want.

The blades are made from stainless steel, and these blades float which allows the shaver to follow the contours of your face, chin and neck for a close and smooth shave.

On tougher beards we think this one will struggle. For the majority of buyers though, they seem to think that this shaver from ES-SL41 from Panasonic does a very good job.

Enda
