Find The Best Stubble Trimmer in 2017
You may well ask what is the difference between a stubble trimmer and a beard trimmer. Well, it is all about the look that you want to show to the public. A lot of men choose a look that is often referred to as the “After 5 o’clock look.” It is a great look for those men who don’t want a clean smooth face and either don’t want a full beard, or simply can not grow a full beard.
The reality is that some men just don’t suit the full beard look, and those men then prefer to have what again is often referred to as a designer stubble. So a stubble trimmer when applied correctly leaves just the right amount of hair to give you that sexy look that you want.
You can vary just how much stubble is left by making a simple adjustment to the stubble trimmer that you are using. The image down below gives you a sample of one such stubble look.
When you look and observe some men you will notice that some just tend to have a great deal more hair than others. Many guys have thin hair, whereas other have hairs popping out of every orifice on their body. The trend now appears to be that a little stubble is the right place to be. Think of people like George Clooney, Gerard Butler and Justin Timberlake and you will get my general drift. This particular look has been in for a while and looks set to grow, if you will pardon the pun.
This started as a young man’s trend, but more and more men are now making the change.
Like most things when it comes to getting this look you can spend time and money at a barbers or go for the do-it-yourself approach at home. A lot of people are opting for the latter, and that explains the explosive growth in stubble trimmers
Average Stubble Trimmer Costs
These cost on average around the £35-50 mark, so affordable for most people, and actually pretty easy to use. There are some more expensive models, but something around the £50 price point will get you a very good product.
How To Use a Stubble Trimmer?
Just below you will find a buying guide. If you are contemplating making a purchase, then I would recommend reading through it. It helps point out the main features that you need to be aware of. I have also done a full article on how to use a stubble trimmer.
The guide though is a very good place to start. If you would like to know what makes the best type of stubble trimmer, then you can find out about that by clicking here.
Stubble Trimmer Guide
We did find a few of these stubble trimmers for under £20 but we have left those off our list as the reviews were simply awful. Those that remain we have placed on our list below as they have all got good and consistent reviews. We are talking at least 4 stars plus out of a rating of 5, so you will know that other buyers have rated these highly.
In terms of what you should look for the most important thing is that you are left with the right length of hair, so that means the head of the trimmer has to be adjustable. If you want this same length all over your stubble, then the trimmer head has to adjust to the different contours of your face. This can be quite a tricky thing to get looking just right, so be aware of that.
When those two boxes have been ticked, then you will want nice sharp blades and a good battery life so as you can use the trimmer whenever you need it. The normal basics apply after that and include how easy it is to clean, maintain and what type of warranty you get.
We have compiled a list below for you which includes the name, buyer’s rating, a price guide and brief description. We hope that you find this useful.

So hopefully you will be able to see at a glance which tick the boxes and make them the best stubble trimmer which will suit you the best. There are three main manufacturers of these types of trimmers who are Philips, Babyliss and Wahl. There are a few other manufacturers in there as well such as Remington, but based on the reviews that we read, they do not appear to stack up that well. We would strongly advise to stick with one of the brands that we have mentioned.
The brands that appear here also just happen to make other male grooming products like hair trimmers and electric shavers, so they have plenty of experience in the market place. They also have pumped plenty of money into the Research and Development departments to continually innovate and improve their offerings to the market place.
Biggest Selling Stubble Trimmer – Babyliss 7895U I-Stubble Plus
Without any doubt the biggest selling trimmer is the Babyliss 7895U I-Stubble Plus. This replaced the popular Babyliss 7890U which was the long time best seller. and it has out sold the others by quite a long way.
You can see why this one is very popular and the choice of many men today. There are just certain products that tend to take off, and become very popular in the male grooming world. The above is most certainly one of those. We talked to a large number of younger men who used this product and they are more than pleased with it.
They said without any apprehension that they would recommend this trimmer to a friend. That is always a very good sign. This one costs in and around £40 depending on where you make your purchase.
The one from Wahl that we review below, is we think the best value and gets good ratings as you can see below. It has also mow become the best selling trimmer product at Amazon in the UK. That makes it well worth a look.
Best New Arrival Stubble Trimmer – Wahl Lithium Pro
New products are coming on the market all the time and models are always being updated and improved. Of these we here at the Emporium think that the Wahl Lithium Stubble Trimmer makes a great choice, and for around £30 is we think exceptional value for money.
Check out the video below to see more information about that particular trimmer. This is a 4 in 1 full grooming kit and for just under £30 we think it makes excellent value for your money. All the pieces are waterproof which means they can be cleaned quickly and easily under the tap.
- 32 mm beard trimmer which can also be used as a stubble trimmer
- Rotary nose trimmer so no excuses
- Beard & moustache comb 18 length settings allowing you to set the thickness
- Beard & Cleaning Comb
- Stubble comb 12 length settings allowing you to vary the length of the stubble.
That is when we will place them on the table, if we think they are a good quality and at a sensible price that people can afford. If you have still not found what you are looking for, then click here to continue your search.
Philips BT5200/13 Series – Beard & Stubble Trimmer
This newer model has recently caught our eye and is starting to sell really well. We thought it was worth a look. Price wise it is close to £60 so most certainly not a cheap buy. The buyers though seem very happy with their purchase and it is getting very high ratings.
It certainly looks the part as you can see from the image on the left.
It has 17 length adjustments ranging from 0.4 mm and all they way up to 10 mm so that covers quite a wide range of hair lengths. It can be operated when plugged into the mains. If you prefer the cordless option, then with a one hour charge you get about one hour’s beard trimming capability.
That is better than many on the market right now.
It is also 100& waterproof so it can be washed out under the tap for quick and convenient cleaning. There is a lot to like about this Philip’s model for sure. You can read more reviews by clicking here.
Babyliss 7847U Stubble Trimmer
This is also a popular choice for many users. It has a very distinct design and some people like this one a lot. The rating is not as good as we like to see here at the Emporium.
Amazon buyers rate this one at 3.7 out of 5 stars. We prefer to see these at 4 stars or higher. Plenty of people have bought it though and for under £25, we would assume that the price is the main driver for people buying this one.
Some people also really like this brand as well. So a good brand and a cheaper price are the two main attractions for purchasing this one. We have done a full review and you can read that by clicking right here.
