Don’t Forget Movember

As a shaving website we wanted to include Movember. Most people in the UK and indeed the world should have heard of this charitable foundation on men’s health. If you haven’t then here is a link to the Movember website. This organisation is all about changing the face of men’s health throughout the world.

So all you need to do is officially sign up and then any money you raise can go to this organisation.

Grow A Moustache During November

If you have ever wondered what you would look like with a moustache, then now is the time to find out. At the same time you will be helping a great cause along the way. The rules are pretty simple and you start with a clean face and then grow a moustache for the 30 days of November.

That means no beards, no goatees and none of those fake moustaches.

Men’s Health Issues

Men are really bad at going to the doctors and generally looking after their health. The month of November really does give the opportunity for men everywhere to have those awkward or difficult conversations about their health. For men there are a number of particular health issues that we really don’t like to talk about:

  • Prostate Cancer
  • Testicular Cancer
  • Mental Health

I know from the many guys that I know that these are conversations we would prefer to avoid. November through the Movember program gives us the opportunity to get this out into the open. I know of at least two people now suffering from prostate cancer and at least they had the opportunity to tell me.

Prostate Cancer

Every hour one man dies from prostate cancer in the UK

Risk increases with age and will affect 1 in 8 men

Testicular Cancer

Most common in younger men aged 25-49

This cancer had doubled in the UK since the 1970s

Mental Health Issues

The highest suicide rate is in men aged 30-44

1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with a mental disorder

Rather than avoid talking about these issues, we would encourage all men to get checked out if they sense that something is wrong. All of the above can be dealt with and the great news is, that the earlier you are diagnosed, then the better your chances will be.

Take Action

So as I said earlier if you have ever wanted to try out a moustache, then now is a great time to have a go. At the same time you can do some amazing things for men’s health issues everywhere. The big question should be, which type of moustache should I grow. Here is a style guide from Movember.com

All you need to do is pick one and go for it.
